BRITAIN SUPPORTS NIGERIA WITH 32 MILLION EUROS

The Britain government has decided to provide £32 million over the next three years for humanitarian assistance to some of the estimated 7 million insurgency victims in northeast Nigeria.

The United Kingdom Minister of International Development, Mr Nick Hurd delivered confirmed the aid during his visit to Nigeria recently.

He said the funds will be channeled via the United Nations as well as other humanitarian institutions.

The financial support is aimed at providing energy, food security, nutrition, water, sanitation and protection of displaced individuals by the conflict.

The military is also expected to facilitated with technical expertise and training.

Mr Hurd added that the support is not void of the diverse areas of partnership with the Nigerian government; and this includes education for youths, fight against corruption, generation of power and facilitation of a better business environment in Nigeria.

He however emphasized the intention of the British government to render relevant and timely assistance to Nigeria, especially at bringing life and hope back to the north east.
