South Africa’s Chris van Heerden (23-2-1; 12), a former South African and IBO welterweight champion, meets Steve Claggett (23-3-1; 16) from Canada in the main event at the Downtown Las Vegas Events Centre in a 12-round bout on Saturday night.

The South African, 28, who fights outside of Santa Monica, California, has recorded wins over quality fighters like Ramon Avila, Ray Narth, Cosme Riviera.

The African who got his career halted due to second career loss in the eighth round by Errol Spence in September last year is ready to get back to action on Saturday.

Claggett (23-3-1; 16), who is the Canadian Professional Boxing Council and Canadian welterweight champion, is a come-forward, aggressive opponent and should extend the South African.

Elsewhere, on the under card, California welterweight prospect Neeco Macias (11-0; 4) from Lancaster, California, meets Limberth Ponce Jnr (10-2; 8) of Rock Island, Illinois, over eight rounds.
