Irish professional mixed martial artist and boxer, Conor McGregor who is the Ultimate Fighting Championship lightweight champion is set to be stripped of his UFC championship after enjoying a 14-months hiatus from the Octagon following his venture into boxing and the last summer fight with Floyd Mayweather.

He would hand over the title to the winner between Tony Ferguson and Khabib Nurmagomedov as even though there have been repeated calls from both of them to defend his belt, he has insisted on calling the shot and has laughed off any pressure.

The Irishman got goaded by Russian fighter, Nurmagomedov who insisted that McGregor was scared to fight him in his country, and that he will wiggle out of it by forgetting his passport.

It should be noted that it has been reported by the Russian outlet, that MacGregor would be officially stripped next week.

According to Dana White, even though he would be stripped if he still wants the belt, he would likely regain it from the winner between the two.

In line with that, he told Fox Sports, ” I respect Conor, I love everything he’s done for this company, but the belt would have to move on… if and when Conor comes back, he would get the first crack at the title.”
