A former senator who represented Plateau South in the Sixth Senate, between 2007-2011, General John Nanzip Shahaya has died in an auto crash along Ampaire village of Kanke local government in Plateau state.
According to reports, the accident which claimed his life happened on his way to his hometown in Plateau State in his Prado Jeep, and it was around 3: 30pm.
In line with that, during the journey, the car lost control and somersaulted into the bush. He died at the age of 75 while the driver and orderly he was driving with survived the accident, and are currently receiving treatments in the hospital.
It should be noted that as well as being a senator, the ECOMOG Peace Keeping Commander minister of interior during the regime of General Ibrahim Babangida who claimed to have received his death with great shock.
It should also be noted that the Nigerian president, Muhammad Buhari recently appointed him as the chairman of the National Institute for Policy and Strategy Studies (NPSS), and he expressed sadness over his tragic death through his Special Adviser on Media and Publicity, Mr Femi Adesina.
He was also the chieftain of the APC in Plateau State
His death was confirmed by the former Chairman of the Local Government, Mr Dan Dandur who descried his death as shocking and unbelievable and he also claimed that they are with the corpse at the Air Force Military Hospital in Jos during a telephone interview.
