Gwyneth Paltrow and Angelina Jolie Say Harvey Weinstein Sexually Harassed Them
As many Hollywood actresses who have had great and profitable working relationships with embattled producer, Harvey Weinstein, come forward to condemn his alleged sexual harassment of women, many wondered when Gwyneth Paltrow, whose career had received positive boosts from working with Weinstein, would join the ranks. Well, Ms Paltrow has finally come forward to denounce Weinstein but in a much more surprising way.
Gwyneth Paltrow, who is now a 45-year old star and entrepreneur, is saying that Weinstein, who has a talent of making great movies and stars, also harassed her. Apart from her, Ace actress and director, Angelina Jolie has also said that Weinstein harassed her.
Gwyneth Paltrow has now revealed that the man who helped her win an Oscar came on to her in an inappropriate way. As a 22-year old who got the role in the Jane Austen adaptation “Emma”, Paltrow was asked to meet Weinstein in his Peninsula Beverly Hills hotel for a work meeting before shooting began. According to her, things turned out differently as he touched her inappropriately and wanted a massage.
She said, “I was a kid, I was signed up, I was petrified,”. However, she reported the incident to Brad Pitt, her then boyfriend. Pitt confronted Weinstein and he seemed to back off- with a warning for her not to tell anyone else.
Apart from Paltrow, Angelina Jolie also has a similar account. She said in an email to the New York Times “I had a bad experience with Harvey Weinstein in my youth, and as a result, chose never to work with him again and warn others when they did”.
Apart from these celebrated actresses, many others have shared similar experiences at the hands of Mr Weinstein, including “Pulp Fiction” star, Rosanna Arquette.
Harvey Weinstein is certainly facing a storm that doesn’t look like it will clear any time soon with many denouncing him and distancing themselves from him. Latest reports indicate that his wife, Georgina Chapman, will be parting ways with him even as the allegations mount.
The New York Times which broke the story has continued to follow it closely with new updates emerging.
