“The club would like to point out that Mats Hummels, as is the case of the rest of the Borussia Dortmund team, has no agreed release clause.”
Dortmund have also added that the only a world class offer to tempt Dortmund into selling Hummels as he is tied to Dortmund till June 2017.
If he eventually makes the move, he would join the list of players who left Dortmund for their direct rivals. The duo of Mario Gotze and Robert Lewandowski have recently made the move across country.
Bayern have also been rumoured to be following the contract situation of MARCO Reus at Dortmund. They are thought to be readying a bid for the Germany international.
Though a lot of football analysts have condemned Dortmund for selling their best legs to Bayern, it appears it is all a means to strengthen the league.
It should be recalled that Hummels left Bayern Munich initially on loan in 2008 after having grown frustrated with his lack of chances. It now seems having established himself at the top of the game, the 27-year old defender craves a return back home.
