INDIVIDUAL RESPONSIBILITY AND POPULATION GROWTH

– The population growth has increased over time and so with the excess poverty experienced in various countries, the poor still continue to give birth to children

– Would we be able to control this growth or would we continue to allow it fester?

INDIVIDUAL RESPONSIBILITY AND POPULATION GROWTH

The world’s population growth standing at about 7.3 billion, there has been discussion about how this growth affects the environment and the equal distribution of already scarce resources.

These resources have been partially distributed equally among all. More than the pressures of population growth however, there’s a lot more talk about measures that we could take to preserve the environment better and administer the earth’s resources judiciously.

So the clamors for reducing the use of fossil fuels in order to clamp down on carbon emissions, pursuing sustainable living, and sustainable development has been an issue for discourse. We hear of nations making commitments(and being pressured to make commitments) to cut down on their contributions to the emission of greenhouse gases, invest in and pursue the use of renewable energy among others in order to assist in all ramification in the reduction of molecules which destroys the ozone layer.

On an individual basis, it is encouraged to contribute our quota to sustaining the earth by recycling the different varieties of waste, planting trees, cutting down our dependence on fossil fuel in our pursuit of modern and mechanized lifestyles. Environmentalist argues that, if more care for the environment and the welfare of the earth is shown, then the coming generations would enjoy the broad umbrella of green house.

population 1In the midst of all these solutions to a better and more sustainable administration of the earth, the issue of population growth and its effects on the earth’s balance is receiving less attention.

According to the United Nations Population Fund, world population grew form 1.6 Billion to about 6.1 Billion during from the 19th to 20th century.

This is something to think about especially if we consider the fact that a lot of adverse environmental impact has been recorded in this period and have been linked to human consumption patterns.

This is what I am saying, population growth has to do with the reproduction of children and its encroachment to the environment in relations to the different poor families that has turned themselves into baby factory making machines.

This reproduction is not bad in itself, but however, the damage and havoc done to them as a result of the background affects them and the society. Sad to say, some families in this recent century has taken the pleasure in giving birth to a many children as possible in this trying time.

Do you think that giving birth to excess children now is profitable to the health of the society?

What would happen if you dare venture into this trend?

Your views and comments would be well appreciated.
