– Rapper won’t be following in Beyonce’s footsteps any time soon
Jay-Z Declines Offer to Perform at Super Bowl Halftime
Reports have emerged that rapper Jay-Z has turned down an offer to perform at the Super Bowl next year. The recent father of twins seems to have decided against following in the footsteps of wife Beyonce, who has performed twice at the halftime show of the event. He allegedly took a decision against performing at halftime at the Super Bowl which comes up next year.
Beyonce gave a halftime performance at the Super Bowl in 2013 and also performed alongside Coldplay and Bruno Mars last year.
Insider sources say that in spite of speculations that Jay-Z would perform alongside Justin Timberlake, it wasn’t going to be as the rapper wasn’t interested.
Jay-Z gave a successful performance over the weekend at the 2017 Meadows Music & Arts Festival. In his rendition of the “Story of OJ” from his latest album, he dedicated the song to embattled NFL quarterback Colin Kaepernick. He also dedicated the song to comedian and civil rights activist, Dick Gregory, who passed on last month. He said “I want to dedicate this song to Colin Kaepernick tonight……I want to dedicate this [song] to Dick Gregory. I want to dedicate this song to anyone that was held back and you overcame.”
There are some speculations that Jay-Z’s decline of the Super Bowl performance offer is tied to his support for Colin Kaepernick.
