The Ondo State Governor-elect, Chief Rotimi Akeredolu (SAN), on Wednesday officially met with Dr. Olusegun Mimiko at the governor’s office, Alagbaka, Akure, the Ondo State capital.

The official meeting of the duo would be the first time after the November 26 governorship election which was won by Akeredolu, after defeating the candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party, Mr. Eyitayo Jegede and 26 candidates of other political parties. The governor-elect of the All Progressives Congress was on a courtesy visit to Mimiko.

Speaking, Governor Mimiko declared that the transition programme from the outgoing government to usher in a new government in February next year would be smooth and seamless.

He noted that in the history of the state, it was the first time a seamless transition from a civilian to another civilian government would be had. He also pledged his support to ensure that Akeredolu succeeds in the task of governing the state.

The governor said, “It is unusual for an incoming governor to be this generous. We are making history because in the history of this state, this is the first civilian to civilian transition that will be seamless and I’m proud to be part of this history.”

Mimiko who noted that peace was one of his greatest achievements and accomplishments of his administration, enjoined the governor elect to sustain the feat.

Earlier in his speech, the governor-elect said commended Mimiko for service he had rendered to the state and the nation at large, saying the governor had displayed exemplary leadership quality in various capacities he had served.

Akeredolu was in the governor’s office in company with some chieftains of the party, who included, the state’s deputy chairman of the APC, Mr. Ade Adetimehin, a former member of the House of Representatives, Mr. Sunday Abegunde, a former Speaker of the state House of Assembly, Mr. Victor Olabimtan, the Chief Press Secretary to Late Dr. Olusegun Agagu, Mr. Yemi Olowolabi among others.
