In a bid to force the chairman of the 8th National assembly to resign amidst the allegation of corruptions on many fronts, Nigerians have taken to twitter to denounce the embattled Kwara State born legislator as their Senate president.

In a series of tweets that started trending the topic some three hours ago, Nigerians have described the senate president with diverse mainly derogatory expressions while calling for his immediate resignation if he has any shame left in him.

This action of his reportedly drew the ire of leaders of the All Progressive Congress, the ruling political party, most especially the former governor of Lagos state, Alhaji Bola Ahmed Tinubu.

The former Lagos state governor did not hide his hatred for the actions of Saraki which he considered rebellious and treasonous.

The rivalry was almost affecting the policies of the new government until several peace moves were made by the Kwara born legislator.

Although the national convention of the party brought all warring parties together, but it did not solve the feud between the camps of Tinubu and Saraki.

What further aggravated the unhealthy rivalry was reportedly Saraki’s decision to give the principal positions in Nigerian senate to member of the opposition party, the People’s Democratic Party.

In the month that followed, the federal government through the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, opened up a case against the senate president at the Code of Conduct Bureau for alleged corruption while serving as the governor of Kwara state between 2003 and 2007.

Even though he has written to several High Courts for a stay of proceedings on his corruption trial, he had lost every of the cases and the trial had since commenced.

The recent offshore asset list  in the controversial panama papers have however aggravated things with many feeling a man with so much distractions and stains is unfit to head one of the main organs of the Nigerian government.

While a number of senators have repeatedly declared their loyalty to the embattled legislator, ordinary Nigerians seem to have given up on the man, and are now calling for his resignation.

Nigerian twitter users have thus taken the hashtag #NotOurSenatePresident to denounce and critic the man, calling for his resignation.

While some described him as an unrepentant corrupt man who is trying all means to subvert the rule of law. On the other hand, some described him as an infidel and a pole working against the wishes of his party and the government headed by Mr Buhari for his own personal gains.
