Real Madrid talisman, Cristiano Ronaldo, is on the brink of missing out on Real Madrid’s champion’s league semi-final second leg clash with Manchester city.

The tie will come too soon for Ronaldo after test on his latest injury revealed he suffered a muscle tear. The injury which kept him out of the first leg at the Etihad stadium will likely keep him out even of the second leg and even further.

Before Tuesday’s goalless draw at the Etihad Stadium, Ronaldo underwent an MRI scan which subsequently confirmed that he had suffered a tear in his hamstring.

The semi-final second leg tie is just one of the several games Ronaldo is expected to miss. If the rehabilitation go as planned, then the Portugal international will be ready for Euro 2016 in France.

The injury might spell a premature end to a wonderful season for Ronaldo. Ronaldo, who has scored 47 goals in 45 appearances this season, suffered the injury during the 3-0 victory over Villarreal on April 20.

Ronaldo who would be hoping to add to is 16 goals in the Champion’s League this term might play no further part in the competition, even if Real Madrid make it to the final

Speaking after the goalless draw in Manchester, Zinedine Zidane admitted uncertainties as regards chances of having Ronaldo fit for the second leg.

“I said they were 100 percent, but I did say there was still the training session to go,” said the Madrid coach.

“Cristiano felt something after that. That is all there is to it. We didn’t want to make things worse.” Ronaldo is thus set to be ruled out of the season.
