Super processor maker Qualcomm, has announced at its Snapdragon Tech Summit its next flagship processor called the Snapdragon 845. The new processor is a direct successor of the Snapdragon 835 made last year. the new Snapdragon 845 would definitely offer improved performance, better power efficiency, and improved image processing. The Snapdragon 845 will likely be found in many high-end Android phones in 2018, though it is also expected to make its way to Windows 10 laptops as well.

Qualcomm will pair the 845 with its latest X20 LTE modem, which provides gigabit connectivity on supported networks. It should also be noted that Qualcomm is hosting its annual conference this week, where we expect to learn more about the Snapdragon 845 and all of its capabilities, so stay tuned for more.

Qualcomm has greatly been supporting machine learning since first masterpeice the Snapdragon 820, and has focused extensively on the use of heterogeneous computing across its CPU, GPU, and DSP components to run these complex algorithms. Qualcomm also is likely to continue this approach given the increasing focus on AI capabilities, likely making a number of tweaks to improve performance and efficiency.

Samsung, Google and LG all built 2017 flagships around the chip — though those companies may well just wait for their next product announcements to throw their weight behind the 845.
