THE FAITHFUL GOD
“Know therefore that the LORD thy God, he is God, the faithful God, which keepeth covenant and mercy with them that love him and keep his commandments to a thousand generations;” – Deutronomy 7:9
To be faithful is to remain true and firm in a course even when others give up due to pressure, it is to remain consistent when there is no one there to ensure that things are done the right way nor anyone to impress with one’s honesty.
1Co 4:2 Moreover it is required in stewards, that a man be found faithful.
Mt 24:45 Who then is a faithful and wise servant, whom his lord hath made ruler over his household, to give them meat in due season?
Lu 16:10 He that is faithful in that which is least is faithful also in much: and he that is unjust in the least is unjust also in much.
Faithfulness is an attribute we want from everyone we have dealings with, whether it is an employee, or an employer, or a friend, or a husband, a wife, children, a teacher, a pastor, you name it anybody you relate with you want that person to be faithful in his dealings with you.
For God, faithfulness is more than an attribute or character traits, Faithful is His identity, Faithful is His name. Faithful is the definition of His person, meaning if it were possible to destroy faithfulness, then we would have successfully destroyed God.
Re 19:11 ¶ And I saw heaven opened, and behold a white horse; and he that sat upon him was called Faithful and True, and in righteousness he doth judge and make war.
2Ti 2:13 if we are faithless, he abideth faithful; for he cannot deny himself (ASV)
We are all that we are today because of God’s faithfulness, the earth and the entire universal depends on God faithfulness to function, imagine, the earth is suspended on nothing in outer space, and it is not constantly falling, this is because it is suspended on God’s faithfulness, the earth rotates and revolves around the sun propelled by nothing but God’s faithfulness.
Even we humans operate on God’s faithfulness whether we believe in God or not, for example we put a seed in the ground and expect it to germinate without worrying how, that’s us relying on God’s faithfulness. A mother feeds her child and expects him/her to grow – that’s also relying on God’s faithfulness. In every natural activity we partake in, there is an element of trust in God to make it work; else a man would need to create a baby from the earth and put breathe in it to have a son, but we can’t do that and we don’t even attempt that, a man simply sleeps with a woman and expects her to get pregnant with his child, that relying on God’s faithfulness.
Mark 4:26 And he said, So is the kingdom of God, as if a man should cast seed into the ground; And should sleep, and rise night and day, and the seed should spring and grow up, he knoweth not how.
The list is endless, but as children of God there are also areas of God’s faithfulness we enjoy which the world does not know:
