Without a doubt, based on his generosity and kind gestures, Rochas Okorocha is one of the greatest leaders who has won the heart of a lot of people in Nigeria.
Note that today is his birthday.
Naijapr presents you with 8 things to note about him.
Rochas Okorocha was born on the 22nd of September in 1962 which makes him 55-years-old.
He is from Ogboko, Ideato in Imo state.
His wife does not stay in Nigeria
His wife lives permanently abroad as she suffers from strand ailments anytime she is within the shores of Nigeria.
On many occasions, after her arrival in Nigeria, she would get sick and lose consciousness and only come back to herself when she leaves the country.
As a result of that, his mother takes the decisions for her.
The failures in his early political career
He lost to Achike Udenwa in 1999 as the candidate for the post of the governor.
He failed as the presidential candidate in 2003.
What he did immediately he resumed office
Just within one week of assuming the position as the governor, he sacked all the democratically elected Council Chairmen and Counselors. He also sacked ten thousand of the youths that were employed during the administration of Ohakim.
This was not all. He also dissolved the tenured Commissions and Boards during this period.
His biggest political scandal
He reportedly stormed into the Imo State Secretariat of APGA along with dozens of thugs and ordered them to beat up some of their top officers.
He then threatened the Secretary of APGA and the Imo State Chairman.
As a result of this, on the 10th of December, he was suspended from campaigning by the party, but at the end of the day, he went in as their candidate.
A spectacular pre-birthday gift
On the 19th of this month, he received 27 cakes which came from all the 27 local government areas in Imo state. The cakes were designed in the form of a two-way staircase and on them was the inscription of his name and age.
It should be noted that not all those in political positions receive this show of love from the citizens of Nigeria during their birthdays.
