TOTTENHAM’S DELE ALLI CHARGED FOR PUNCHING OPPONENT

2015/2016 English Premiership youngest footballer award winner, Dele Alli has been charged for a violent misconduct by the Football Association.

Tottenham’s midfielder, Alli, was spotted by television camera as punching Claudio Yacob during his side’s Monday night 1-1 draw against West Brom.

Alli however, had escaped being sent off in the match as the incident was not in the referee’s report after the game.

Midfielder Dele Alli could miss the rest of Tottenham’s season after being charged with violent conduct by the Football Association.

Violent conduct usually incurs a three-game ban, so a guilty verdict would mean the England player, 20, misses all of Spurs’ remaining fixtures.

Tottenham manager Mauricio Pochettino said he had not seen the incident, which occurred in the 26th minute, but added: “Sometimes the opponents find him and try to provoke. They know he has a strong character and may react.”

Off-the-ball incidents missed by the officials are referred to a panel of three former elite referees to decide on any sanction.

Alli who came from MK Dons to join Tottenham been on a spectacular form for the English club. He has scored 10 goals so far and has formed an impressive partnership with striker Harry Kane. The midfielder has till Wednesday to make a statement.

Tottenham are currently second on the premier league table and still have a chance of winning the title, although they failed to secure maximum points against West Brom on Monday night.
