TOURE COMMITS TO LIVERPOOL
Liverpool’s Ivory Coast defender, Kolo Toure has expressed his desire to commit his short term future to the team handled by Jurgen Klopp.
He has however added that such decision on the long run will be based only on the chances of playing time. The current contract of the defender runs out in the summer.
In the light of his words, Liverpool manager, Jurgen klopp, has expressed his desire to keep Toure at the club, hinting the player is in his immediate plans for the oncoming football season.
Speaking to the BBC, Kolo toure expressed his delight at the assurance of playing time from Jurgen klopp.“It’s great to hear that from a great manager, as long as I can bring something to the team. I’m happy to stay but if I can’t, there is no point.”
Toure has been reduced to sub appearances for a large part of the season due to the impressive form of Mammadu Sakho. The ongoing investigation into an alleged drug failure by UEFA gave Toure a place in the starting eleven in the 2-2 draw with Newcastle in the absence of sakho.
Though Sakho is yet suspended by UEFA, Toure is expected to keep his place when Liverpool entertain Villarreal in the semi-final of the Europa league on Thursday
When quizzed of his views about the present doping allegation faced by Sakho, having gone through same investigation two seasons ago, he reckoned it is one of the worst experience a player could have.
“This is private but he knows what I think about him”, Toure reportedly said. He went on to express his support for Sakho as he passes through such a difficult phase of his career.
The Ivorian defender, a brother to Manchester city’s Toure Yaya, currently earns around £3.9 per annum.
