According to the official Palestian news agency, President Donald Trump has informed Mahmoud Abbas, the Palestinian leader that he plans to move the U.S embassy from Tel Aviv, Isreal to Jerusalem.
The statement did not include the time the American president plans to move the embassy.
According to Nabil Abu Rdeneh, the spokes man of Abbas, the Palestinian leader warned him of the dangers of his decision to security, stability and Mideast peace efforts in the region as Jerusalem which is home to key Muslim, Christian and Jewish shrines is a combustible centerpiece of the Arab-Israeli conflict.
King Abdullah, the King of Jordan which acts as custodian of the Islamic sites in Jerusalem in reaction to Trump’s news also said the decision would undermine the efforts to resume the peace process and also provoke Muslims.
Trump was also advised by Abdu Fattah al-Sisi not to complicate the situation in the region.
It should be noted that according to reports, the Palestinians seek east Jerusalem as the capital of a future state and they have warned that they would stop contacts with Washington if Donald Trump goes ahead to implementing his decision.
